This is a wonderful opportunity for your son/daughter to visit the school and his/her classroom prior to opening day. You are also invited to join us for a picnic lunch following the Open House. Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy spending time with our school family prior to the grand opening on Tuesday, August 31st.
Events Calendar: On the left hand side of your screen, you should see a small calendar with the title 'Events Calendar'. If you click on that text, the calendar will enlarge to full screen. Here you will find important events in the life of JAC. They are color coded - salmon is for events that pertain to the whole school, yellow is for third grade, pink is for 4th and blue is for 5th. Some events will have more information available shoud you click on the event itself. For example, on August 20th, should you click on "Placement Letter Mailed Home" you will be directed to the placement letter. Check back often, as new events are being added regularly.
Early Arrival Option: WPS will again be offering an Early Arrival option for elementary students. The fee is $200 per child. Busing is not provided for this option.Click here for the registration form
Vehicle Identification Cards: WPS parents who are dropping off or picking up must display their Vehicle Identification Card on the car's windshield starting September 7, 2010. For safety reason, no child will be released to a vehicle that does not display the appropriate Vehcile Identification Card. What makes a school safe? The Community Meeting on Friday, Noveber 20th started by discussing the question, "What makes a school safe"? The week prior, students brainstormed answwers to this question with their teachers. We kicked off the meeting by showing them the wordle created by their responses. What's a wordle you ask? Click here for an explanation. Based on this discussion, we asked students to respond to the following questio: Do you feel
safe at JAC? Why or why not? This data will be the beginnings of our work with Student Council to create an anti-bullying campaign tailored to the needs of our school community. Stay tuned for more information...
