5th to 6th Grade Transition Information: The transition to middle school is often one that causes a great deal of anxiety for students and parents - particularly if this is the first time your family is venturing into middle school. Knowing this, we work hard to provide a transition program that will lessen the anxieties and build the excitement for this important next step in your child's education journey. We have put together a variety of opportunities for you and your child to learn more about the Blanchard experience and to get your questions answered. Please click here for an overview of the opportunities available to you.

What  makes a school safe? The Community Meeting on Friday, Noveber 20th started by discussing the question, "What makes a school safe"? The week prior, students brainstormed answwers to this question with their teachers. We kicked off the meeting by showing them the wordle created by their responses. What's a wordle you ask? Click here for an explanation. Based on this discussion, we asked students to respond to the following questio: Do you feel safe at JAC? Why or why not? This data will be the beginnings of our work with Student Council to create an anti-bullying campaign tailored to the needs of our school community. Stay tuned for more information...

Field Trip Cancellation! Field trips are funded via parent donations and provide valuable educational benefits to students. If there is a significant influenza outbreak in our school system it may be necessary to cancel a field trip at the last minute. Many organizations require prepayment for a field trip and do not offer refunds. Therefore, in the event of a cancellation, a refund to parents may not be possible. If a cancellation occurs and an organization offers a refund, we will make every effort to reschedule the trip or plan another field trip of equal educational value.
